Fount Church NYC pastors did not engage in fraud, investigation finds

Thumbnail
An independent investigation by Dentons has cleared the founding pastors of Fount Church, Josh and Georgie Kelsey, of allegations of financial impropriety. The investigation examined accusations of excessive spending and financial mismanagement.
  • The investigation, initiated following allegations of mishandling church funds, found no evidence to support claims that Josh and Georgie Kelsey personally benefited from church finances or engaged in unauthorized spending.
  • Specifically, the investigation addressed accusations related to personal credit card expenses, travel, and other expenditures. Dentons reviewed financial records, interviewed relevant parties, and analyzed church policies and procedures.
  • The report concluded that while some expenses may have been categorized inaccurately or lacked sufficient documentation in certain instances, there was no indication of fraudulent activity or intentional misappropriation of funds for personal gain by the Kelseys.
  • The findings offer vindication for the pastors and aim to restore confidence in the church's financial stewardship. The investigation process itself was overseen by an independent committee appointed by the church board to ensure impartiality.
